Tulsa native’s book a how-to for surviving economic cyberattack.

Since 2008, Tulsa native Kevin D. Freeman has been warning about the devastation enemies of the United States could wreak upon the U.S. economy.

It’s a message Freeman first presented in a report commissioned by the Pentagon’s Irregular Warfare Support Group, and which he later developed into the book “Secret Weapon,” published in 2012 and a New York Times best-seller.

“The thing is,” Freeman said, “I would get invited to speak at the Department of Defense, or the U.S. Naval War College, and some of the people in those audiences would come up to me and start asking me what they should do on a personal level — what to do with their 401(k)s, should they invest in stocks or avoid stocks, is buying gold the answer.

“These were the same questions I would get from regular audiences when I spoke. You can’t really go out and buy gold then hide in the basement with a shotgun — but that seemed to be the only solution out there for people.”

So Freeman, CEO of Freeman Global Investment Counsel, “decided to put on my chartered financial adviser hat” and determine what options ordinary citizens might have in the face of an major economic meltdown.
